David Foster was killed in a house fire in Warwick Road, Clacton. He was hard of hearing and in his seventies. During the fire investigation, it was learned that the victim was actually alerted to his working alarms and tried unsuccessfully to escape his home. But due to his exits not being clear, he was unable to leave his property and was overcome by the smoke which rendered him unconscious. Foster was the only person living at the home.
